Description
Process of how to do sublimation print on mug :-
Design Preparation: Create your artwork for sublimation printing. Use design software or find royalty-free images suitable for sublimation (high resolution with CMYK color mode). Mirror your image if necessary (text will appear backward otherwise).
Printing: Fill your sublimation printer with sublimation ink.
Adjust your printer settings for sublimation printing on mug media. Paper type, ink type, and temperature settings will vary depending on your printer and ink brand. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for specifics.
Print your mirrored artwork onto sublimation paper. Let the print dry completely.
Prepping the Mug: Ensure your sublimation mug is clean, dust-free, and lint-free. You can use a damp cloth to wipe it down.
Preheat your heat press machine according to the recommended temperature and time for sublimation mugs (refer to the heat press and mug manufacturer’s instructions).
Transferring the Design: Place your sublimation paper design face down onto the sublimation mug. The design should wrap around the entire printable area.
Secure the sublimation paper with heat-resistant tape to prevent shifting during pressing.
Heat Pressing: Carefully place the mug with the design secured on the lower platen of the heat press machine, ensuring it’s centered.
Lower the upper platen of the heat press to create even pressure across the mug.
Close the heat press and activate the timer. Pressing time will vary depending on your heat press settings and mug type.
Post-Pressing: Once the timer beeps, carefully raise the upper platen of the heat press.Important: Use a heat-resistant glove to handle the mug as it will be very hot. Gently remove the heat-resistant tape and sublimation paper. Discard the used paper.
Curing (Optional): Some heat press settings might recommend an additional curing step after pressing. This involves placing the mug in a dedicated heat press oven for a set time and temperature. Refer to the blank manufacturer’s instructions for specifics.
Additional Tips:
- Maintain a clean work area to avoid contaminating your blanks or transfers.
- Experiment with different pressures and times on scrap mugs before finalizing your settings.
- Ensure you have the correct size heating element for your mug on the heat press.
- Always follow the safety instructions provided with your heat press machine.
- By following these steps, you can personalize mugs with stunning designs using your sublimation mug heat press machine.
- Remember to consult the specific instructions for your heat press, ink, and mugs for optimal results.
